Tanzanite

Found in a single square kilometre of land near Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania — nowhere else on earth. Discovered in 1967 and already considered rarer than diamond, tanzanite shifts between violet and blue depending on the angle of light and the eye looking at it. Geologists believe the existing supply will be exhausted within a generation. To wear tanzanite now is to wear one of the last of something truly finite.
